Monday, the "pre-grade" phase was completed. But, Ted Sharrone and his teams never seem to even come up for air before the next phase is in full swing! So, it should have come as no surprise when Tuesday, bright and early, several large crates of travertine pavers and coping with nifty "StoneMart" labels were delivered. And the next day more coping tile arrived...along with plumbing PVC lines, our Hayward equipment and the waterline tile!!
I heard a radio discussion on a local sports show this past week comment that the real work is what happens all week in practice - the actual game we watch is just the result of all that preparation.
This week is a perfect example of this: long days of hard work and precision preparation. Jordi heads up the tile/paver/coping crew and let me tell you, they don't take short cuts, no matter how tempting it might be in this brutal summer heat!
They took a full day of prep that included adding what we are calling a cement "icing" - a type of smoothing along the interior for the waterline tile to be installed. In fact, they continued this process all along the top, giving a lovely, smooth finish all the way around the top edge. They also have spent two days so far cutting the travertine coping down - this stuff is 1 1/2 inches thick!
All this prep for a flawless frame around our pool!
AND THEN THERE IS THE WATERLINE TILE!!!!
Look at all that beautiful Noble Tile bringing color to our pool!
What may not be immediately obvious is the meticulous precision in measuring/trimming the tile to accommodate the waterfall.
The tile series we selected here is the Noble Tile: NSHC 681 - Crystal Lake and it looks SUPER AMAZING - even BETTER than we imagined!!! The diamond set tiles you see here (called a Deco tile) will be exchanged for the coordinating Deco tile in this series as seen in the picture below:
So, take a good look, my pool/water-loving friends...I'm going to call these shots the "limited edition"! LOL!
LOVE working with GULFSTREAM!!
