2016_Nov 10: My Favorite Distraction

My apologies for the delay in this post...let's just say I've been hijacked by my new favorite distraction!

Soooo....last week, Hawkins Electric fixed the pool pump!  Every day my DH had continued to religiously brush the entire pool finish as instructed, but now that the water was circulating again, we were interested to see what happened to the pool water chemistry.

To our pleasant surprise, the chlorine came out on the high side of normal, pH needed just a bump of Muriatic acid and total alkalinity looked great!

After a week of almost no circulation, the water had started to take on a faintly green hue but within a few hours, it POPPED back to that gorgeous St. Thomas BLUE, with glistening flecks of the Shimmering Sea embedded in the Blue Granite PebbleTec/Pebble Sheen finish!

And in spite of the cooler November weather, Cabana Girl could wait no longer...this past Saturday, she hopped in and sat on the underwater shelf....BRRR!  But then looked to the left and the view of the waterfall was breathtaking!
*this shot was taken with my phone partially submerged!*

At this point, my DH cranked up the heat for the spa and we spent both Saturday and Sunday sipping drinks immersed in this heavenly Oasis!

While I do plan on making a final post...My Favorite Distraction may delay that intention for awhile...!

(for those new to this blog, the complete adventure of our Pool Build starts with the post below)

  1. Pool looks great...Can you confirm what pebble sheen color you went with? I was confused when you commented as St. Thomas then Granite blue in the same sentence above. I am looking at either St. Thomas or blue granite pebble sheen, and wanted to understand if the water is too dark, too grey and has no green. The pool company we are going with offers St. Thomas pebble sheen as an option.

    1. Hi there! Sorry for the confusion - the St Thomas blue was a reference to the actual island water. 😊 We went with the actual Pebble Tec in their shade called: Blue Granite (Pebble Sheen finish), then added their Shimmering Sea enhancement to get these micro-sparkles when the sun is out. The color is absolutely beautiful - not dark or gray at all. We purposely went for this color to avoid any green tint and it ended up being the perfect choice. I hope this helps and congratulations on your Oasis in progress!!
